Hi! My name is Alexis Heckathorn! I've been married to my husband Lance since 2012. We have four amazing kiddos together; Gabriel, Liam, Evelyn and Lachlan. We currently live in the heart of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. From 2009-2020 our family traveled the country while my husband served in the Marine Corps. My love of birth and birth education started in 2014 while recovering from postpartum depression and working through the trauma of our eldest boys births. I knew there had to be a better way "of doing this". While in nursing school I started on the path of becoming a Certified Birth Doula, gaining experience and then moving due to the military again. Our daughter's birth was healing, but I didn't fully become aware of what true informed consent and informed decision making looked like until the pregnancy and birth of our youngest son. We moved to Silverdale, Washington and decided to have a home birth in 2020. The education and experience of my midwife, chiropractor and doulas set us up for an amazing pregnancy and birth experience leading into a fourth trimester that every woman deserves. Not only did I feel loved and cared for, but I felt informed and empowered by the knowledge that I had gained from these amazing women. Their influence in my own life has dawned a new passion in me for serving women and helping them truly know how they can have an empowered birth experience.
